As the mothership of everything creative and wholesome lands in Abbots Ripton for the last time this weekend, it is fair to assume that Secret Garden Party 2017 will go out with a loud (and somewhat colourful) bang. Thankfully guitarleaves has you covered, and will be donning the glitter and wellies for the finale of the the greatest show on Earth, all under the tag sgp2017.
From the voice that brought you “Unmissable” by Gorgon City today we hear from the young but oh-so-talented Zak Abel. Sporting a wonderfully bluesy beat and style of performance, Zak manages to project a sense of nostalgia into his work. Save for the breath of modern influence weaving through, his rich voice and vintage instrumental could easily lead you to believe that a hidden vinyl has recently been discovered. In terms of new music, it seems that Zak prefers a life away from the spotlight and so apart from a few collaborations, it’s wuncertain what will happen – we think maybe more work combining forces with the equally-talented Joker, who has had a strong contribution to Zak’s latest EP. You can catch him across the country at various festivals this Summer.
It’s that time of the week again – and this time it’s the turn of Hozier with his second single “Sedated”. It’s hard to create a formula for Hozier’s music, with each track of his supporting different styles to the last. Perhaps it could be said that his gritty vocals are the star of his music, backed up by simple melodies and instrumentals. Either way though each record is emotive and proves a point – something that can be very powerful when executed perfectly, and in the case of Hozier, it is.
